#26 The power of silk
Silk for your feet
Silk is a fibre that cannot be reproduced by science, it is called the jewel of fibres.
Do you know why? A precious and delicate textile, silk has many properties.
It is antibacterial and absorbs moisture about 1.5 times more than cotton. Its yarns with numerous holes, called "pinholes", allow perspiration to dissipate and therefore prevent the proliferation of bacteria.
Silk is also thermoregulating, its fibres contain many layers of air which have an insulating effect. This means that it keeps you warm in winter without making you sweat and keeps you cool in summer.
Furthermore, silk is rich in proteins and amino acids, which means that it does not dry out and thus maintains the skin's moisture content.
It is therefore for these different properties that we have developed several silk products for the greatest happiness of your feet.
Women's silk socks
Our women's silk socks come in several styles. The plain socks with rolled edges and no elastic are recommended for people who do not like to be tight. The elastic opening has been improved for a loose fit and the toe seam has been restitched.
Remaillage is a technique that ensures an "invisible" finish and, above all, is gentle on your feet.
They can also be worn inside room socks, they keep the heat in and don't irritate your skin, so you can stay warm.
Silk legwarmers
Less thick than a pair of woolen leggings, it is just as warm. The surface of the silk threads is covered with a component called sericin, a protein containing amino acid which, when in contact with the skin, creates a warming effect.
Natural silk also offers a high UV protection index because its fibres reflect and absorb UV rays.

Men's silk socks
Our most luxurious socks: the 100% silk ones. High ribbed but above all delicately knitted, they are a real work of art and will fit perfectly under suit trousers. All our 100% silk socks are delivered in a moisture and moth resistant paulownia wood box.
Our silk-cotton blend socks are ultra thin, perfect for long days at work.
How to maintain them :
- Silk socks are delicate and sensitive to rubbing. At Tabio, we recommend hand washing.
- Machine washing is still possible, but it is important to use a washing net and a mild detergent for silk without exceeding 40°.
- Never use a tumble dryer and avoid spinning.
- The ironing can be done from 110°C to 130°C in a slightly wet cold mode with the presence of a cloth between the iron and the silk to avoid any type of problem.
- Silk can be preserved for a longer period of time if it is well cared for.
